Choose Your Glass Type

The look, privacy, and feel of your shower depend on the glass itself, not just the hardware.

CLEAR

Clear Glass

Standard tempered — what most homes have. Can show a slight green tint at the edges, especially against white or light tile.

LOW-IRON

Low-Iron (Ultra-Clear)

Also called Starphire. Removes the green tint entirely. This is the upgrade to ask for if you want true clear glass.

FROSTED

Frosted / Privacy

Etched or acid-frosted surface. Softens the view for privacy.

RAIN

Rain Pattern

Vertical rippled texture. Adds privacy while still passing light through.

TEXTURED

Textured / Patterned

Reeded, fluted, or custom patterns for a designer touch.

3/8" vs 1/2" Tempered Glass

3/8"
Standard Frameless
Industry standard for frameless enclosures. Rigid, strong, cost-effective.
1/2"
Premium Frameless
Heavier, more solid feel. Required for oversized panels and specialty configurations.

Match Your Faucets, Plumbing, and Cabinet Pulls

Hinges, handles, brackets, clips, and sliding rails come in every major finish.

Chrome

Polished silver — the most common bathroom finish.

Brushed Nickel

Softer, satin-finish silver. Doesn't show water spots.

Polished Nickel

Warmer than chrome, still a bright metal look.

Matte Black

Modern, bold, and dramatic. Pairs with warm woods and stone.

Brushed Gold

Warm satin gold. The current design-favorite finish.

Champagne Bronze

Muted warm bronze. Softer than gold, warmer than nickel.

Polished Brass

High-shine yellow-gold. Traditional and luxurious.

Oil-Rubbed Bronze

Deep dark brown-black. Rustic, transitional, or old-world designs.

Glass Enclosure Questions

What's the difference between frameless, semi-frameless, and framed?
Frameless uses thick tempered glass (3/8" or 1/2") with only clips, hinges, and a handle — no visible metal frame. Semi-frameless keeps a metal frame around the fixed panels but uses frameless doors, splitting the cost. Framed enclosures have full metal frames around every panel — the most affordable and most watertight, but the least modern look.
Can I get a glass enclosure without a door?
Yes. Walk-in curbless showers often use a single fixed glass panel with no door — the shower is designed oversized enough that water stays inside naturally. It's the most modern, minimal look available and works especially well for master bathrooms.
What hardware finishes are available?
Chrome, brushed nickel, polished nickel, matte black, brushed gold, champagne bronze, polished brass, and oil-rubbed bronze are all standard. We match your enclosure hardware to your existing plumbing fixtures — showerhead, valves, and vanity faucet — so the whole bathroom reads cohesive.
How long does it take to install a custom glass enclosure?
After tile is complete and cured (usually a full week after installation), the glass fabricator comes out to measure. Custom glass takes 10-14 days to manufacture, then installs in a single day. Total: 2-3 weeks from tile-done to glass-installed.
What glass thickness should I choose?
3/8" is the industry standard and what we recommend for nearly every enclosure — plenty rigid, cost-effective, and reliable. 1/2" is used for oversized panels (over 60" wide) or when you want a heavier, more solid feel.
Is low-iron (ultra-clear) glass worth the upgrade?
If your tile is white, cream, or light natural stone — yes. Standard clear glass has a slight green tint visible at the edges that can slightly discolor light tile behind it. Low-iron (also called Starphire) eliminates the tint completely. It's typically a 15-20% upgrade over standard clear.
Can you install steam-shower enclosures?
Yes. Steam enclosures require full ceiling seals, specialized gaskets, transom vents for pressure release, and steam-rated hardware. We coordinate with your plumber for the steam-generator install and design the enclosure specifically for steam functionality.
